SCHOOL OF
BIBLICAL HEBREW
Learn from the Source
In the midst of the global pandemic, students from around the world completed the one-of-a-kind Hebrew immersive in Jerusalem. 27 very special individuals from 12 nations and 4 continents graduated from the School of Biblical Hebrew. They spent 9 months far from home and family with the singular focus of learning biblical Hebrew in order to translate and share the whole Word with the whole world.
Translators from the first three cohorts of the School of Biblical Hebrew will be working on translations in 60 languages with the potential to impact 12 million people in this generation alone.

“Through the study of biblical and modern Hebrew, the language of the Bible is no longer ‘dead’ to me, but alive.”
“I’ve been reading the book of Samuel, and am amazed at the things I’m finding now when I’m reading them through Hebrew. I’m discovering something which is different from what I’ve known. And I am really excited! I wish people could have this same experience. Before I had to use many translations to find the meaning of one word. But when you go back to the Hebrew and ask someone who understands Hebrew, you have a much greater understanding. ”
MASTERS PROGRAMS
Equipping Translators & Consultants
Masters programs grew from MA in Biblical Hebrew to MA in Biblical Hebrew & Translation Consulting. 21 SBH graduates continued on for the first Masters in Translation Consulting and summer programs in Jerusalem, joined online by other translators from many nations.
Three centers — the Center for Oral Scriptures, Center for Deaf Scriptures and Center for Extension Learning are all linked within the IBLT Masters Programs to provide foundations for the multiplication of translators and consultants around the world and in oral and Deaf communities.

CENTERS
Because 80% of the world are oral learners, the Oral Bible Translation specialization was added to the MA in translation consulting. OBT Training held in Jerusalem and online through Biblical Foundations of Orality, Oral Bible Translation, and OBT Render Experience courses.
“Oral communication is much more than the verbal. It is also the artifacts, the rituals, the storying. Critical in this need for oral Bible translation is equipping and training Bible translators to serve Bible-less oral people.”
To address the global need for Deaf Bibles, a new Sign Language Specialization was added to the Masters in Translation Consulting. 4 Deaf students successfully completed the intense online summer program, and a Deaf specialist hired as Associate Acting Director of CDS.
“In the book of Isaiah it says, ‘In that day the Deaf will hear the words of this book.’ And it’s our prayer that this will be that day.”
2020 was a pivotal year, with the development of a distance learning program in the 4th quarter. 15 translators in Jerusalem were joined by 20 studying remotely across 16 timezones. 18 nations and more than 10 organizations were represented by instructors and students.
“This ‘first fruits’ program, together with the residential program in Jerusalem will enable us to serve many more translators and consultants globally and multiply the translation of the Word exponentially!”
PARTNERS
4.2.20-IBLT serves as a capacity builder for the Bible Translation Movement, training a new generation of translators and consultants in source languages in support of ETEN’s 2033 All Access Goals. The planting that has been done in the last 5 years could not take root without our partners. Thank you to each one around the world as we work to multiply access to God's whole story.

FINANCIALS
In the first half of 2020, we experienced a noteworthy decrease of monthly revenue due to the global pandemic and subsequent economic uncertainty for investors. As a result, 4.2.20 leadership adjusted costs and donation projections for the remainder of the year. However, by the end of FY 2020, we were able to increase monthly revenue back to our original monthly goals. Our year-end cash balance saw an increase of $250,000 from the end of 2019 to the end of 2020.
